When Will 'Dynasty' Season 5 Return to The CW?

Dynasty Season 5 returned to The CW with a drama-packed two-part Christmas Special on Monday, December 20 and fans couldn't get enough. However, there is some bittersweet news for fans of The CW soap opera.

Unfortunately, audiences will have to wait a little while longer to find out what will happen next in the world of the Carringtons as Dynasty is set to take a midseason hiatus, like many other shows on The CW network.

When Will Dynasty Season 5 Return to The CW?

Unfortunately, Dynasty will not be airing on Monday, December 26 on The CW, or any Monday thereafter.

Instead, Dynasty will be embarking on a midseason break and is not set to return until Friday, March 11 2022 at 9 p.m. ET.

The good news is, The CW has confirmed an official release date and a return to the show's traditional release pattern. Dynasty fans will once again be able to wind down the working week with an episode of the new season every Friday.

The highly-anticipated Christmas special confirmed the fate of Fallon Carrington (played by Elizabeth Gillies) after she was shot by Eva (Kara Royster) in the Season 4 finale.

During the two-part Christmas special, it seemed like Fallon's life was touch-and-go after she forcibly discharged herself from the hospital. In part 2, she slipped into a coma following an argument with her husband Liam (Adam Huber).

Thankfully, Fallon was able to pull through her coma, thanks to a dream she had of her and Liam reconciling their marriage and also having children in the future.

The return of Dynasty Season 5 will pick up from the events of the Christmas special, which saw Fallon come face-to-face with her would-be killer Eva.

For now, the cast and crew of Dynasty are keeping tight-lipped about the fifth season of Dynasty. A teaser for Episode 3 has not even been released yet, keeping fans in the dark about what to expect next.

Season 5 will see Eliza Bennet join the cast as a long-lost relative of the Carrington family, who will be keeping some serious secrets close to her chest.

Per the official character description, Bennett's character is "smart, confident, and can hold her own against any Carrington who comes at her. She works as a lawyer by day and by night is a bit of a party girl who stirs up trouble in a family full of troublemakers."

Bennett is best known for her role as Jules Thomas in Sweeet/Vicious and Kitty Lawson in Grantchester.

She also starred as Lisa Newbery in Broadchurch Season 2 and Chloe Foster in Strike Back.

Most recently, Bennett played the role of Odessa in the ABC series The Conners, a spin-off of Rosanne.

Dynasty Season 5 returns Friday, March 11 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
