God of War Ragnarök: Mystical Heirloom—What Does It Do?

Players will encounter the Mystical Heirloom while exploring near Tyr's Temple in God of War Ragnarök. When you first discover this collectible, the game notes that it doesn't appear to have much use, but this couldn't be further from the truth. The Mystical Heirloom is actually used to trigger four miniboss fights, which when completed will allow you to obtain the Steinbjorn Armor.

How to Find the Mystical Heirloom

If you haven't discovered the Mystical Heirloom relic in God of War Ragnarök just yet, proceed through the game until you reach Tyr's Temple in Midgard. Next, head south of the Lake of Nine and beyond the temple itself. You'll need to have obtained the Draupnir Spear in order to continue, so make sure you've progressed at least to that point in the game.

Using the Draupnir Spear, throw it at the wall of ice. This will break open a new pathway, allowing you to walk through it. From here, look for a poisonous Scorn Pole to the right and then look left to spot a corpse, with the Mystical Heirloom nearby.

How to Use the Mystical Heirloom

Now that you have the Mystical Heirloom, it is time to talk about using it. Much like the other relics you encounter in God of War Ragnarök, you'll need to equip the Mystical Heirloom to get any use out of it. However, this isn't a combat relic, so you won't get much help perfecting your parry or even mastering the art of staggering enemies. Instead, you'll use the Mystical Heirloom to interact with four specific statues found through the Nine Realms.

One of the statues itself can be found in Midgard, while another is found in Alfheim. The final two, though, are found while exploring Vanaheim. These statues are exactly what you'd expect them to be, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding them while out exploring. When you do find one, approach it with the Mystical Heirloom attached, and then press L1 + Circle to bring the troll out of its stony slumber.

This will trigger a boss fight, which you'll need to complete if you want to unlock the armor attached to this relic. Once defeated, the trolls will drop a Slumber Stone, which you will need if you wish to craft the Steinbjorn Armor.

Because these boss fights are more difficult, it's highly recommended that players have an idea of how to fast travel around the world and that they have spent some time increasing their health so they can survive more hits.
