Indian Matchmaking is mostly far tamer than Netflix's other dating shows like Love is Blind or Too Hot To Handle, but the show also has its own share of messy backstage drama.
Nadia Jagessar is seen in the show getting ghosted twice by suitor Vinay Chadha, who then took to social media to say that in fact, it was he who was ghosted.
Vinay is seen on Indian Matchmaking not turning up for a movie date with Nadia, blaming heat exhaustion. He then does the same again, texting he's on his way but never turning up.
Writing on his Instagram, Vinay said: "The truth is we were supposed to hang out one night after a wedding she was at. I had a family issue that night and intended to still come, hence texted on my way. I was vague and not responsive and I own that."
He adds: "Fast forward to the movie night, I NEVER DITCHED HER THERE," he revealed. "The morning of the movie on July 18 I texted her saying I was sick and didn't want to flake last minute so I can't come. I thought this was honest upfront no BS. She didn't react well when later in the day I got an IV and wanted to meet up. She replied saying I handled this wrong too and never once asked if I was OK. I have the receipts to prove it."
He concluded the message by saying that in fact, it was Nadia who had ditched him. He said: "After that day she ghosted me. The meeting dinner with her friends never happened. I was the one left heart broken and ghosted."
Nadia then reacted to this claim in an interview with New York Post, in which she said: "I have some messages where I said I don't wish to pursue anything further, and he did keep reaching out and I ignored him. So if he considers that ghosting, that's fine.
"Don't be mad at me. I am not the producer or the person who created the show. I am a piece of this puzzle, just as you were."
She also alluded to the off-camera problems she had with Vinay in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, in which she said, "being off-camera definitely changed the dynamic between myself and the matches that I had continued talking to, and obviously, the change was not positive. But it helped me learn more about myself and what I'm looking for in a future partner."
Indian Matchmaking is streaming now on Netflix.
