It's been quite the roller coaster for Jax Taylor on the eighth season of Vanderpump Rules.

After his whirlwind wedding, fights with friends and aggressive behavior, his castmates are beginning to think he's losing his grip. It's easy to see why when you break down his actions this season. The 40-year-old reality star sent rage texts, abruptly and rudely disinviting Max Boyens, Tom Sandoval and a few others from the housewarming pool party he was throwing with his wife, Brittany Cartwright. But the upset in his friend group seems to be the least of the problems for the newlywed. Something else seems off about Jax, and it's beginning to cause some friction in his marriage.

Jax's erratic behavior spilled into Tuesday's episode 19 of the Bravo reality show as he was still reeling from his fallout with his friends. Only heightening the drama, he discovered Tom and Ariana Madix decided to throw their own pool party on the day of his event, which would essentially cause some attendees to choose between the two. According to his wife, though, Jax brought this on himself.

"This whole thing is petty," Brittany said. "Jax, I just can't help but feel like if you wouldn't have done that stupid rage text that you sent to Max, none of this would have happened."

Put off by his wife's lack of support, Jax did what he usually does when his behavior drives a wedge between him and his friends: he played the victim. "I love that this is all my fault," he replied.

And, in what feels like a part of the usual Jax routine, he shelved the conversation with Brittany and opted to go to the gym instead of potentially starting an argument. The only problem is that this marked his third gym session of the day, and Jax's time away from home is starting to feel too familiar for her comfort. Basically, she feels as though he's emitting the same avoidance-type of behavior as he did when he cheated on her with Faith Stowers in 2017.

"I feel like when Jax did cheat on me, I didn't see very much of him, or he would try to be gone from the house a lot," Brittany says in a confessional video. "It just almost feels a little repetitive of things that we've been through in the past. I don't want it to ever get that bad again."

Despite her suspicions, Vanderpump Rules cameras show that Jax is indeed hitting the weights like a mad man. "I've taken so many classes today, this week, that my wife thinks that I'm living a double life," he says in an Instagram Stories post, included in the episode.

Although he isn't philandering with other women as Brittany suspects, there is trouble in paradise. Later in the episode at his pool party, Jax confesses the reason why he's been acting out is because he's not happy.

"I've got a beautiful wife, a beautiful home. And on paper, I look like I hit the lottery. But I'm still not happy," he tells Stassi Schroeder. "This is a big year for me. So I shelved the situation with Brittany and I, the cheating thing and everything. And now that the downtime's here, it's all coming back in. I'm thinking about my wedding and I'm like, it just was so quickly, and I feel like, did I do the right [thing]—it's just all these things."

Jax added: "And what I'm afraid of is if my wife is gonna be like, 'Do I not make you happy?' And that's not the case at all."

Stassi, who tells Jax that he is "sabotaging" his marriage, isn't surprised to hear his explanation for why he's been behaving so wretchedly, and neither were fans. Plenty of them took to social media during the show to voice their opinions on the state of Jax and Brittany's relationship, and a number of them were happy to watch their demise.
