Capcom showed off new footage from the Resident Evil 4 remake during its Resident Evil Showcase today. In the new footage, fans were given a look at the game's updated graphics as the main character makes his way through an abandoned home to investigate a body.
The new footage is one of the first looks we've been given at the upcoming changes to the game, and it looks to stay in tune with the graphics overhaul given to the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes released in previous years. The footage also gave us a look at some of the game's early combat moments, including a point where Leon Kennedy, the game's main character, is grabbed by a zombie making its way toward him.
The rest of the footage plays out as expected: Leon ends up in a fight for his life as he makes his way deeper into the village where the president's daughter is expected to be held. The director of the game also shared some notes during the showcase, stating that Capcom hopes to provide a familiar yet new experience for players.

New features, state-of-the-art graphics and tons of other additions are expected to make an appearance throughout the game. You'll also need to manage your inventory and weapons, just like previous Resident Evil games. And, of course, the game's iconic Merchant is expected to make a return, allowing you to customize weapons and purchase new items to change up your playstyle.
Capcom has said it is rebuilding the original game while also modernizing the playfield and creating a new experience. The game will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series X and Steam. Capcom also shared that the PS4 edition will be able to be upgraded to the PS5 version for no extra cost.
There is also a planned Deluxe Edition, which will come with special weapons, costumes, a treasure map and other goodies. And, of course, Capcom has a Collector's Edition planned, which will offer a special map, all the features of the Deluxe Edition, and a special Leon Kennedy statue. Capcom shared that preorders for the upcoming title are open as of today, October 20, offering multiple options and goodies for those who pick the game up before release.
Finally, Capcom ended the Resident Evil Showcase by announcing the upcoming release date for the Resident Evil 4 remake. Players will be able to jump back into Leon's shoes once more on March 24, 2023.
