Travis Kelce is facing an unprecedented level of media attention as his relationship with Taylor Swift heats up.
When the pop star was present at the last home game for the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce recorded a season-high 12 catches and 179 yards. The next week, with Swift elsewhere as she prepares for the international leg of her Eras Tour, Kelce and the Chiefs lost their first game to the Denver Broncos since 2015. Kelce recorded just six catches and 58 yards.
Should Chiefs fans be worried about the star tight end, given all of the distractions that come with dating an international celebrity?
In a recent interview with Fox News, Kelce's mother, Donna, didn't mention Swift specifically, but she did say she thinks her son will be fine in the face of any adversity or distraction this year.
"Travis is the type of individual where, if you're going to say that he's not good enough or that he'll not be able to handle it, it just pushes him more," she said. "It's a fire within him to prove everyone wrong.
"Because there were some people saying he's not going to be able to handle the season, he's not going to be a good football player. But it turns out that the more that he is pushed or challenged, he takes it to a new level," she said.

Admittedly, a player's mom is likely to have her son's back regardless of the circumstances. But Chiefs coach Andy Reid suggested that the team's performance against the Broncos was an outlier, saying that he saw things in that game that he had never seen before from this group of players.
"It was one of everything," Reid told reporters on Monday. "So when I mentioned that last night, about things I hadn't seen before from this group, who I have a lot of trust in, I saw things I hadn't seen before. So somewhere I didn't get that point across to the guys and my coaches. So we've got to make sure we do a better job there."
Kelce's production also suggests he will be fine. He is averaging 83.3 yards per game as a receiver, which is the third-highest total of his career, and he catches 79.4 percent of his targets, which is his highest total so far.
For their part, the Kelce family seems as nearly enamored with Swift as Kelce is. Donna Kelce was spotted sitting with Swift at October 1's game against the New York Jets and reportedly found her "very sweet." Meanwhile, Kelce's father, Ed, told People that Swift "doesn't know how to pull off" being a spoiled musician, after meeting her at a Chiefs game.
"I don't think she got the diva memo," Ed Kelce said.
And, of course, Reid says Swift is welcome to "stay around all she wants."
So don't worry, Chiefs fans. If Kelce faces any adversity this season as a result of his new relationship, his family believes he will be able to shake it off.
