A woman has been dragged online for complaining about a racy joke made by her husband.

In a post on the discussion site Mumsnet on Friday, user ArcEnnCiel explained: "[My] husband made a joke at work about watching swingers."

With over 180 replies, the upset woman explained how the joke came about while her husband was at his work Christmas party.

"Two of his colleagues went on a swing [at a] Christmas fair. This came up at work and then my husband made a joke at work about how he 'watched them swing,'" explained the Mumsnet user.

When she heard about the joke, the woman was upset and expressed her feelings: "He told me the joke and I find it very distasteful. My husband knows I dislike sex jokes and work and how they give me pervy vibes from the people who make them—he always said the same," she wrote.

But in the comments, Mumsnet users rushed to share their thoughts and overwhelmingly slammed the woman for what they said was a "major overreaction."

"I think you're being incredibly precious," said one commenter. "It was just a play on words."

Another user wrote: "It was a joke. Chill!"

Emma Mankey Hidem, the creator and host of interactive virtual dating game show The Game Show of Love, told Newsweek: "On the one hand, it is a silly little comment that isn't particularly sexually explicit, it just has a sexual implication. In that sense, I believe she is overreacting. However, her key point that many commenters seem to be missing is the "at work" part. She doesn't like it when people make sexual jokes at work. And while this joke was pretty tame, she does have a point.

"People need to be very careful making sexual jokes in the workplace. You can't necessarily anticipate whether or not you might make someone uncomfortable and, if you do make someone uncomfortable, either they could report you or they can choose to keep it to themselves, which many people often do for fear of retaliation or being seen as someone who 'can't take a joke'," she explained.

"Oh goodness," said another reply. "It's hardly a dirty joke."

Another Mumsnet user wrote: "You weren't even there? Who's behalf are you choosing to be offended on? I would laugh at this joke if a work colleague said it to me."

When it comes to resolving the conflict created by the situation, Mankey Hidem suggested spending some time getting to the root of the problem.

"She needs to let it go because he can't undo it and it really doesn't actually impact her. If the joke itself makes her uncomfortable beyond the fact that he told it at work, there's likely something else at play," said Mankey Hidem. "Perhaps jealousy, insecurity, or sexual repression - and then they need to talk about what is at the root of that and fix the real problem."

Newsweek wasn't able to verify the details of the case.
