Indian Matchmaking on Netflix seems like it is going to have its first wedding when Akshay Jakhete gets pre-engaged with Radhika after the pair hit it off on their date.
Akshay, however, has since revealed that he called the marriage off after getting second thoughts about marrying a woman who he has mostly talked with on the phone.

The first interview Akshay gave was with the Los Angeles Times, who discovered that none of the couples from Indian Matchmaking are still together.
Asked why things had not worked out with Radhika, Akshay told the newspaper: "A few days later, there were some things which we found out that did not go down well with us, and eventually I called it off."
However, the Netflix star did not go into detail about what it was that they had found. However, he did add, "trust is something [that] once broken cannot be regained in a matter of days—it takes a really long time.
"I'd rather wait and be with the correct person than be stuck with the wrong person. So I am single right now and still looking for the right one."
The next time Akshay discussed why things were over were Radhika, however, the reason he gave for breaking up with her changed.
Speaking to MEAWW, the Mumbai resident and Indian Matchmaking star said: "I realized in the night I couldn't sleep, the whole thing was going on in my head, like 'What am I doing with my life, or what's going on? I cannot be stuck with this person'."
He later added: "Not that there's something wrong with the person, but we are two completely different people. I mean, we couldn't even hold a conversation together for more than five minutes...So that's the only reason. The next day itself, I was like, 'I'm not doing this.'"
In the interview, he also responded to the criticism he received on social media after saying he was looking for a woman like his mother.
He said, "I don't know why I'm getting so much backlash...I have seen my mother supporting my father and taking care of us when he was out for work...She has a very good nature and is very helpful, calm, and composed."
Indian Matchmaking creator Smriti Mundhra, meanwhile, has also defended Akshay and his mother Preeti.
They told the Hindustan Times: "I think it's easy to judge Preeti and Akshay. Progressing beyond conservative ideals is a sign of bravery, but also privilege. It usually means you have a support system and the social space to exist outside of the narrow confines of tradition...It makes me sad that people are judging them so harshly."
