Power may be over on Starz following the death of James St. Patrick (played by Omari Hardwick), but that does not mean the story is done. Power Book 2: Ghost is coming soon to Starz, and will show the impact the events of the Power finale had on Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) and Tasha (Naturi Naughton). However, the Power Book 2: Ghost trailer released by Starz also gave viewers their first real glimpse of the spin-off's new characters, as well as revealing the all-important release date for the new show.
What the new trailer revealed about Power Book 2: Ghost
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the finale of Power, including who killed Ghost.
Power Book 2 is coming in the fall
Ghost was originally meant to start in June, but production on the series was shut down in March. However, clearly a significant amount of shooting has been completed, as the trailer confirms that the first episodes are coming in September to Starz.
However, the network has not revealed when in September Book 2 will begin, or indeed how many episodes are scheduled to air this year.

New characters
Though viewers have previously seen images of Mary J. Blige's Monet and Method Man's Davis McLean, the trailer gave fans their first glimpse of them in action. At the end of the promo, we see Monet say, "I need to know everything you know about Tariq St. Patrick," suggesting that Riq is soon to be caught in her criminal enterprise.
We also see Davis say, "a woman under siege." It's not clear who he is talking about, but it seems to be Tasha, suggesting this shady lawyer may become involved in her case. The promo also hinted that he may become involved with Power's crooked FBI man Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson).
Tariq's journey
As previously revealed, the Power characters returning for Book 2 are Tariq, who killed his father Ghost in the Power finale, and Tasha, who took the fall for her son's crime. Though Tasha did this to try and stop Tariq from following in his father's footsteps, the promo reveals that her efforts may have been in vain.
In the trailer, we see Riq say, "I will do anything to help my mother," and later we see him make a deal with a shady figure. This seems to suggest that central to Power Book 2: Ghost will be his choice between an ordinary life and the criminal underworld.
This was also hinted at in the poster for the Power spin-off. On that poster, two Tariqs are shown—one, an ordinary boy walking by his college, another a gun-toting gangster on the streets. Which one Tariq becomes is sure to be the subject of the new spin-off.
Tariq's secret may be revealed
Though Tasha has currently taken the fall for her husband's death, it seems that the truth may out in Power Book 2: Ghost. The first scene of the trailer sees former U.S. Attorney Tameikah (Quincy Tyler Bernstine) return to the Powerverse to interview Tasha in jail. "How did you know James would be alone," she asks Tasha, "Someone else was there...Is it your son?"
