Reality Recap: Anna's 'Dancing' crime, Joan's 'Golden' quest for love and a 'Survivor' Shocker

What a week in reality TV! We had three major premieres this week: Dancing with the Stars, The Golden Bachelorette, and Survivor. Each one of them offered some major surprises. Let's break it down.

Dancing with the Stars showed that, well, not every "star" can dance. Of the bunch of them, Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik was the standout, who showed that he had the energy and the moves to compete, but he needs to work on his facial expressions. (He had that deer caught in headlights look.) But the big news of the night was Anna Delvey, the convicted con artist who is somehow able to compete while under house arrest (it's complicated). She debuted her dance, complete with her ankle monitor bedazzled, and well, let's just say that I hope she's a better con artist, because the girl can't dance. No one was eliminated this week, but something tells me Delvey will soon be heading back to her actual house for house arrest.

On The Golden Bachelorette, Joan met her bachelor's and even sent some of them home. But for me, it was the preview of the season that was most exciting. The men will compete in a Full Monty inspired dance (not sure I needed that, but also, I'm not mad about it) and last season's golden bachelor, Gerry, will be making an appearance. Considering he's single after divorcing his golden bachelorette, anything is possible.

And finally, Survivor is back with season 47, and wow, was it a shocker of an episode. Jon Lovett, host of the popular Pod Save America podcast, was the most notable cast member this season. It seemed like they'd keep the famous guy for a while, just because he's guaranteed good TV. Well guess what? They got rid of him. I chatted with him about it on the Parting Shot podcast. Give that a listen or watch on YouTube.

Here are a few things to look forward to this weekend...

  • I've got some new movies for ya! First, the kids are probably going to want to see Transformers One, but if I were you, I'd sneak over to see Demi Moore in The Substance. (Lots of Oscar buzz on that one.) Halle Berry also has Never Let Go. (Not as much Oscar buzz there.)
  • On TV, I'm really looking forward to Kathy Bates's new CBS show Matlock. It's a new take on the classic lawyer drama, and if anyone can make it work, it's Bates. I spoke with her about it briefly on the Parting Shot podcast last year.

That's it for me today. Keep scrolling for more entertainment news. I'll see you on Monday!

Sean Combs' New Life Behind Bars Eating Swedish Meatballs, Bean Burgers

By Erin Keller

Sean "Diddy" Combs was denied bail by two different judges this week who claimed the Bad Boy For Life singer is a flight risk and danger to the community.

Combs is being held in the Special Housing Unit, removed from the general population, at the notoriously rough Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The jail was previously a temporary home for other celeb criminals, including R. Kelly, Michael Cohen, Allison Mack, and Ghislaine Maxwell.

This new normal way of living is a far cry from the $50 million bond package Combs' lawyers put together in an attempt to have him await trial on home detention in Miami.
