'Summer House' Star Imrul Hassan Opens Up About Being Undocumented

Rarely does reality TV reflect what's going on in the news. It's supposed to be an escape from the world, guilty pleasure TV, right? Yes, most of the time, but every once in a while, one of these stars does something that surprises you and makes you realize that some reality is very, very real. That's exactly what happened recently on Bravo's Summer House when Imrul Hassan opened up about being undocumented.

"It was such a hollowing feeling," Hassan told Newsweek about being undocumented. "But having said that, it's given me so much perspective in struggle...I think it's led me to where I am right now, to where, I just wanna give back as much as possible."

On a recent episode of Summer House, Hassan opened up about not having legal status until he married his then-girlfriend.

"I get comments ...like, yeah, we're sending this to ICE, so they're gonna come get you, things like that," Hassan said. "Even though rationally I know I'm fine, but you know, you still read the comments, you still see some of them, it's like, it makes you think just for a second...It's a non-zero percent chance that something could happen."

Listen to Hassan share his full story on the Parting Shot podcast.

That's it for me today. Keep scrolling for more entertainment news. I'll see you Wednesday!
