Which Celebrities Died in 2024?

As the year wraps up, we can't help but look back at some of the celebrities we lost in 2024.

Perhaps the most shocking loss was former One Direction singer Liam Payne. (It's always so difficult when they die young. Payne was only 31 years old.) Other losses this year include Quincy Jones, Richard Simmons, Shelley Duvall and Shannen Doherty.

But for me, the one that hit the most was the passing of Oscar-winning actress Maggie Smith. Her death certainly wasn't a surprise–she was 89, after all–but her work is such a touchstone for so many moments in my life. With that said, it was lovely to hear that the new Downton Abbey movie plans to be a tribute to Smith.

OK, here's what else is poppin' in the world of pop culture.

  • We have a winner for Survivor 47, and I'm talking with them on the Parting Shot podcast. Give that a listen.

  • The internet is going crazy for the new Superman trailer. (I'm sure it has nothing to do with David Corenswet in that tight superhero suit. Nothing at all.)

  • Rihanna showed up at Mariah Carey's Christmas concert and asked the singer to sign her décolletage area, if you will. (I legit cannot stop thinking about this moment.)

OK, that's it from me today. I'll see you on Monday! Keep scrolling for more entertainment news.
