What I Thought of 'Snow White'

Before anyone even saw the movie, it seemed like everyone had something to say about Disney's Snow White. They either wanted to throw hate at Rachel Zegler because of Disney's "woke" casting, or they wanted to be mad about Gal Gadot's involvement simply because she's from Israel. Well, I've seen the movie, and here's my reaction to the actual performances in the movie. (And not culture war issues that has nothing to do with the movie).

Let's start with the obvious: Gal Gadot was miscast. For a role that's deliciously over-the-top like the Evil Queen, Gadot just doesn't have that charisma. She's a great actress, but that role requires someone dramatic, campy, someone unafraid to look ridiculous. It required an actor like Anne Hathaway. (Oh, and Gadot's vocals aren't great, but next to a powerhouse like Zegler, they somehow sound worse).

As for Zegler, she's actually kind of perfect as Snow White. Her voice is amazing, we know that, but it's her acting in Snow White that makes it all come together. She plays the character as painfully cheerful, which is true to the original, but adds a dose of modern independence that makes the character somehow believable.

But is the movie good? Listen, I'm a Disney nut, and I often enjoy their live-action remakes, but this one feels weighed down by the mismatch of Gadot and Zegler. That said, it wasn't as horrible as the internet wants you to believe. (Which like, yet again proves sometimes the loudest voices online are really just obnoxious people looking to out yell each other).

That's it for me today. Keep scrolling for more entertainment news. I'll see you on Monday. Have a great one!

Is Rachel Zegler's 'Snow White' Woke? Five Major Changes Made to Original

By Megan Cartwright

Disney's live-action remake of Snow White is set to hit theaters on Friday, featuring significant changes from the original animated classic.

The original 1937 film, based on the famous fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, follows the story of a princess named Snow White, who flees into the forest to escape her evil stepmother and befriends seven dwarf miners: Sleepy, Dopey, Doc, Sneezy, Grumpy, Bashful, and Happy. Ultimately, the stepmother is defeated, and Snow White falls in love with a handsome prince.

However, leading up to its 2025 release, the live-action Snow White has sparked debate over the creative liberties taken with the story, with some labeling the changes as "woke."
