Are you watching The Golden Bachelorette? Because it's the most emotional show on TV. For a breakdown of why, read the full recap, but basically it all comes down to Joan as the golden bachelorette. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and because of that, the men also bring the emotion. Don't get me wrong, the show is fun too–on Wednesday, the men competed in a Chippendales inspired dance–but the heart of the show is, well, heart.

But there was plenty more going on in reality this week. There was a surprise blindside on Survivor, and I'm talking with the one who got the boot. Watch my chat with Survivor's Kishan, who tells me where he thinks his game went wrong. Over on Dancing with the Stars there was a not-so-shocking double elimination after last week's brief hiatus. And The Masked Singer voted out an actual singer. (And here I thought being able to sing wasn't a requirement on that show.)

For more on what's poppin' and for a reaction to this week's biggest stories, listen to the latest episode of the Parting Shot Podcast. Have a great weekend!

Culture Spotlight
Kavin Becon

Before even reading Peacock's new thriller Teacup (October 10), Scott Speedman knew creator Ian McCulloch's script "couldn't be pigeonholed as one thing." Speedman plays James Chenoweth, a father doing whatever he can to protect his family from a deadly threat in remote Georgia.

"It really takes off into the genre elements, but at the same time bringing the family drama in this really intense way all together." Part of what makes the series so satisfying is because the show builds "up that trust with the audience so that when you do take this crazy turn, they'll come with you, hopefully."

And because Speedman was so familiar with McCulloch's work, he leaned into his "crazed, demented, amazing mind for this stuff" and knew "he was going to try to take it further and weirder and crazier." "For lack of a better way to put it, there's crazy sh** happening." As it gets crazier, Speedman "just really hung my hat with this particular thing on the family drama, and as the horror, supernatural, sci-fi elements started to progress, you just go for it."
